Madeleine Elkins Trio plays Vancouver Public Library

On Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 2pm, I join guitarist Madeleine Elkins in her new trio with Kevin Romain on drums, to play the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch's new daytime music series, Rooftop Rhythms. This show is free of charge on the library's rooftop terrace for one set of music.
Rooftop Rhythms: Madeleine Elkins Trio
Enjoy free jazz-ish concerts every Thursday afternoon in July on the Central Library’s picturesque rooftop terrace! Our inaugural performers are the Madeleine Elkins Trio, featuring drummer Kevin Romain, bassist William Chernoff, and guitarist and bandleader Madeleine Elkins. Inspired by exploratory artists like Bill Frisell and Mary Halvorson, Elkins’s intricate compositions start at the crossroads of jazz, folk, and rock, then move freely from there. Merging contemporary jazz with her love of modern bluegrass and post-punk guitar sound, Elkins is breaking down genre boundaries and forging an independent path through the modern musical landscape. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear world class musicians performing in one of Vancouver’s most beautiful public spaces. - This program is generously funded by VPL Foundation donors. Registration is recommended but not required to attend.
